NorthPoint Run Club offers a competitive yet fun running experiences for people of all ages and levels of fitness. We offer workouts, local races, summer camps, and personal coaching. We are committed to helping you identify and reach your goals, and can provide customized training plans, documentation, and analysis of your results. Of course, results will vary based on effort, diet, body composition, age, etc.

Youth Coaching

Youth members must be enrolled full-time and in good standing at a local school, age 9-17, and must be able to run one mile in under 8 minutes.

We ask youth members to be able to finish a 1.5K race in 6-8 minutes for elementary school, a 3K race in 10-14 minutes for middle school, and/or a 5K race in 17-25 minutes for middle or high school.

What makes NorthPoint different than other local youth running clubs is that we individualize our training, provide after school workouts, do not require Sunday races, and do not require a USA track & field membership. Various weekend races will be offered and encouraged, such as the Millrace Marathon 5K and many others.

Furthermore, we aim to supplement the running sports at the local schools and even other local run clubs. Most middle school programs, for example, have excellent coaches who teach character building skills, and remain open for every student and unlimited team sizes. We encourage our athletes to attend all workouts and races offered on their school team.

We aim to prepare youth for running middle/long distance events in middle school, high school and college. We challenge youth to live a fit and healthy lifestyle with values and integrity. We are open to all local 4-12th graders that meet our time qualifications. We foster positive competition amongst teammates and rival schools.

Weekday group workouts are open to all paid members between 3:15-5:00pm. We utilize a variety of locations in your city. In Columbus, Indiana, for example, Noblitt Park, Nexus Park, the LEX “magical tree forest”, school tracks, Lincoln Park and People Trail, etc.

Some parents wonder how old their student should be before they can begin running or jogging with more regiment and difficulty. In the following article from WomensRunning.com we learn that kids of age 5 and up can become well trained at any kind of running sports, with soccer probably being the most popular. The key is not to force them too hard and too far. READ ARTICLE
